Comparing & Choosing Ski Passes

Your Comprehensive Guide to Chamonix Ski Passes

Selecting the right ski pass is crucial for your adventure in Chamonix. Your primary choice is between the Mont Blanc Unlimited (MBU) pass and the Chamonix Le Pass (CLP).

Use this guide to determine which pass perfectly aligns with your skiing style and holiday plans.

The main difference between the Chamonix Le Pass (CLP) and the Mont Blanc Unlimited (MBU) is the extent of the areas, resorts, and benefits included.

Your decision should be based on three simple steps:

  1. Identify Your Ski Dates: Pinpoint your skiing dates and stay duration.

  2. Check Pass Availability: Confirm which passes (CLP, MBU, Early Bird) are available for your specific dates using the table above.

  3. Consider Key Factors:

    • Accommodation Location: Where are you staying and how easy is transport to the lifts?

    • Skill Level: Beginners and intermediate skiers often find CLP sufficient. Proficient/off-piste skiers typically need the MBU for maximum terrain access.

    • Mobility: Do you have a car or rely on public transport? MBU includes more transport benefits.

Expert Guidance: Choosing the right pass can be complex. Call our team at +33 (0) 6 37 05 62 13 for personalized recommendations tailored to your specific requirements.

Essential Pass Requirements

  • Smart Card: Every pass requires a mandatory, non-refundable €3.00 Smart Card (badge) to activate the turnstiles. These cards are reusable.

  • Photo: A photo is required for passes longer than 9 days.

  • Multiple Passes: If your trip spans two different pass periods (e.g., CLP then MBU), you will need a separate smart card for each pass.
